Use big data to gain March Madness glory

One of the must unifying gambling opportunities sports events in the world is the NCAA Men’s Division 1 Basketball Tournament.

And they don’t call it March Madness for nothing: Each year, millions of people in the U.S. and around the world enter betting pools with work colleagues, family, friends, and pretty much anyone willing to fill out the 64-team tournament bracket and lay down some money.

Alas, most people’s brackets get blown up in the first round because, well, unsupportable hunches and alcohol-fueled insights will only get you so far.

For those March Madness betters eager to get to the next level (or at least the second round), chipmaker Intel and predictive analytics competition platform Kaggle are sponsoring a competition in which players predict tournament winners using data analytics.
