Microsoft strengthens SaaS, hybrid cloud, Big Data

Microsoft is readying a wave of fall updates to its enterprise cloud offerings as the software giant looks to nudge public and private sector enterprise customers ever closer towards its public infrastructure as a service by beefing up its SaaS, hybrid and big data offerings.
In October / November Microsoft will release a slew of updates including Windows Server 2012 R2, System Centre 2012 R2, Visual Studio 2013, and .NET 4.5.1, which it says will help developers build new applications across multiple cloud and on-premise platforms. The company will also link up Windows Intune and the (System Centre) Configuration Manager, and add support for Android and iOS devices to the former.
