Legislative roundup: NC eyes investment in ‘big data’

State lawmakers could soon have a high-tech tool to help them make hard decisions about where to spend money.
The state’s Information Technology budget calls for giving $500,000 to a data analytics program at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte to help lawmakers better predict economic trends, said Rep. Jason Saine, R-Lincoln.
