Connecting the dots: Zero Locus seeks patterns in ‘big data’

In a world swimming in data, Zero Locus Inc., a Milwaukee company run by two MIT-trained engineers, wants to make its mark.

Zero Locus, formed in January, is using little-known mathematical techniques to create software that will evaluate hundreds, even thousands of variables and calculate probabilities to help companies digest their data and make better business decisions.

The company has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from gener8tor and American Family Insurance, which is providing data the start-up is using to test the software it is developing.

“Our solution will be unique, it will provide better answers to more difficult problems,” said Art Mellor, chief executive of Zero Locus.
