Consolidation was the keyword for the North American telecom market in 2013. The year saw T-Mobile USA merge with MetroPCS (while retaining both brands) and SoftBank complete its acquisition of Sprint. In fact, it’s estimated that in North America, 24 million wireless subscribers migrated to a different carrier in 2013 due to M&A activity.
