It’s known as “big data” — the exponentially growing mountains of digital information that are increasingly being collected and used to guide decisions in business, government, schools and health care.
That, in turn, is creating an unquenchable demand for scientists and analysts to mine and interpret that data for entities as diverse as grocery chains, football teams, blue-chip corporations and even the CIA.
