FutureLearn chief executive Simon Nelson says MOOCs had “attracted new investment, new talent and new partnerships” for universities and had revitalised their audiences and stakeholders.

Speaking at Universities Australia Higher Education Conference in Canberra, Nelson says the United Kingdom-based FutureLearn had received almost half a million registrations since offering its first course which started last September.

Nelson appeared on a rare double bill with the head of major United States MOOC provider edX, which was set up two years ago by Harvard University and MIT.
